Tot op heden zijn 7000 chemische verbindingen geïdentificeerd in sigarettenrook , waaronder 250 giftige en 70 carcinogene chemicaliën. Koolmonoxide , arseen , waterstofcyanide en benzeen zijn allemaal aanwezig in sigarettenrook, samen met een groot aantal anderen .
